About Women Playing for T.I.M.E.®

Women Playing For T.I.M.E. (Technology, Immediate Diagnosis, Mammography and Education) is an all-women volunteer group, focused on defeating breast cancer that began 17 years ago in partnership with M. D. Anderson Cancer Center Orlando. WPFT raises valuable funds through golf, tennis and other fundraising events in Central Florida. Since its beginning, WPFT has raised more than $7.5 million for breast cancer research and programs at M. D. Anderson - Orlando. In addition, monies raised have helped to purchase technologies that provide for the immediate diagnosis and education of other forms of female-related cancers. WPFT is led by a core of volunteers with a history of generating strong financial support throughout the community.

Orlando Rowing Club Helps Support Local Cancer Treatment and Research

The 2nd Annual Florida Masters Regatta raised $1,900 to benefit local cancer treatment and research at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center Orlando through ORC's partnership with Women Playing For T.I.M.E.(WPFT).

The Regatta made for a great day of masters and open racing and included a Corporate Challenge 500-meter dash with teams from Orlando Health and Women Playing For T.I.M.E. amongst others. Some of the participants were breast cancer survivors, and for many, it was a chance to contribute directly and locally to a cause that has touched so many.

Mark Middleton in this Growing Bolder video documents the crew's success. Photos of the crew's can be seen at WPTF Row for T.I.M.E. photo gallery.

In 2008, ORC raised more than $10,000 for Komen Central Florida!

Our first annual benefit fund-raiser on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008, turned out to be bigger and better than we could have imagined. Thanks to you, we proudly donated more than $10,000 to Komen Central Florida, the local affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure breast-cancer research foundation. We sincerely thank you for your support and willingness to contribute to this very worthy cause.

We were happy to host crews from across the state, from local high schools to colleges to Potomac (Washington, D.C.) Boat Club to a men's double scull entry from across the pond in England.

As it turned out, our rescheduled Row for the Cure® fell during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The battle against breast cancer is not over, but with your support, we are one small step closer to a cure.
