The Novice program provides athletes from the Learn to Sweep program with the opportunity to continue to develop their rowing skills before joining the Competitive Rowing programs. Crews are set on a casual basis, and may row in any combination of eights and fours. The program’s primary focus is on technique development and having fun out on the water. A novice mixed group is currently rowing in the evenings, Tue/Thur 6:30 -8:00 pm and Sunday mornings at 7:00 am. Cost: $40 per month.

Competitive Sweep Programs

For fitness and race training, sweep rowers will want to join the competitive rowing program. Cost: $40 per month.

The Locally Competitive sweep program is focused on fitness, fun and participation at local races of each athlete's choosing. This program is suitable for anyone, including recent Novice graduates. This program meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:30 am to 8 am and Sundays 7 am to 9 am.

The Regionally Competitive sweep program desires a higher level of fitness and works toward being able to medal at focus regattas, including the Head of the Hooch and USRowing Southeast Regionals. Acceptance into this program is possible for first-year rowers, depending on rower skill level. This program rows on Wednesdays and Fridays 5 am to 6:30 am and on Saturdays 7 am to 9 am.

The Nationally Competitive sweep program is able to commit to four days a week of training, with the expectation of medaling or meeting specified times in national-level regattas such as the Head of the Charles and Masters Nationals. This group rows Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 5 am to 6:30 am and Sundays 6:20 am to 8:30 am.

Sculling Programs

A weekly Coached Sculling clinic is held on Fridays at 6:30 am and focuses on sculling technique development to improve stroke efficiency and boat speed. $30 per month.

Ad hoc groups of scullers of various experience meet to row together throughout the week and on weekends. Ask about in the sculling bay.

If you are a sweep rower looking to transition to sculling, consider the Novice Sculling or Learn to Scull courses offered on a regular basis. More information is available on these classes at Learn to Scull.
