Learn to Scull

Class description: The Learn to Scull (each rower uses two oars) program offers participants an orientation to sculling equipment, demonstration of the basic rowing stroke, boat handling and safety. Sessions are given in a 2x (double scull) first, after which the student will be introduced to a 1x (single) recreational/training scull.

Prerequisite: No experience required. Must be 18 years old and able to swim. High school and college students may take the program during the summer.

Learn to Scull - Fall 2011
Starts September 24th
Saturday & Wednesday, 7am to 8:30am
$235 - 12 sessions, 6 weeks
Minimum of 4 participants or class may be rescheduled

What to bring: Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, spandex or tight-fitting shorts (cycling shorts are best), socks and water.

Novice Sculling Program: 2010 Dates TBA

Class description: This program offers novice scullers the opportunity to improve speed, blade work, and boat handling skills. You'll also learn how to get back in flipped boats. Time is spent tuning of all aspects of the stroke, and on developing personal training plans to help you continue technique improvement and to prepare for upcoming races.

Prerequisite: Adults 18 years and older who have completed the Learn to Row, Learn to Scull or similar program. Experienced sweep rowers may also transition to sculling in this class. Must be able to swim.

Class size: Limited to six participants; advance payment is REQUIRED due to limited class size
